HANDIKOS PRESENTS THE MAP OF BARRIERS FOR CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with disabilities require that States enable persons with disabilities to live independently and participate fully in all aspects of life. Furthermore, it requires that the States take appropriate measures to ensure to persons with disabilities access, on an equal basis with others, to the physical environment, to transportation, to information and communications, including information and communications technologies and systems, and to other facilities and services open or provided to the public, both in urban and in rural areas.
We, people with disabilities, together with the students of the Department of Architecture, University of Prishtina, have designed the map of barriers impeding our participation as equal citizens in society. We are people with physical disabilities, wheelchair users, crutches users; people with visual impairments, blind; people with hearing impairment, deaf; people with intellectual disabilities; people with mental disabilities; we are citizens who ask for your support in realizing our right to education, employment, health services, social welfare and social life.
Fellow citizens, civil society organizations, partners, stakeholders, you are invited to join our demand for inclusive Kosovo on the 3rd of December 2013, at 10:30 am. We will gather in front of Zahir Pajaziti square, and march towards the National Theatre where the Map of Barriers will be revealed.
